A couple of months ago I shared with you a couple of DIY inspirations, among them a graphic T-shirt from River Island with a LA themed photo. So last week I decided to create my own graphic t-shirt. Since I liked the Californian theme I searched for inspiration at Rachel Phipps’ Pinterest board called “Californication” until I found an image I really liked!
What you Need:
A white (preferably) t-shirt
Special iron-on transfer paper (I use HP iron-on transfer)
The desired image (if you’d like you can add text using photo editing software)
The process:
First of all iron well the t-shirt, so that the area where you will place the iron transfer is flat. Then pick the image you’d like to use and add the desired text. For my t-shirt I chose some lyrics from the song “Malibu” by Hole. When editing the image DON’T forget to flip the image (especially if you’ve added text).
Print the image on the iron-on transfer paper. When printing make sure you choose that you’re printing on special paper from the printer’s settings (that’s why it’s better to choose iron-on transfer paper that corresponds to your printer’s brand).
Cut the image either using scissors or a photo cutting device (I love those!), leaving a border of 0,5 cm around it.
Place the image on the t-shirt and iron on high (no steam) for about 3 minutes.
Remove the paper and voila!

Oh …. what a lovely idea !!!! and …. too many possibilities !!!!
Love the song, love the t-shirt! Well done!!! xxx
OMG, I remember iron-on transfers,
I love this, and like your Californian inspired Tee! -xx
