On Monday night I attended the Celia D. fashion show for Spring/Summer 2012 during the Athens Xclusive Designers Week titled Indian Gypsy. For this colelction, the designer combined ethnic and romantic style, neutral tones with deep scarlet ones.
As per the press release, the dresses and the models’ styling is influenced by both the clothes and the culture of Native Americans and Gypsies. Long braids on the hair, colorful beads, knitwear (see this beautiful dress above left?), jewelry with feathers and earth tones like beige, white, deep red, grey and khaki give out an air of indigenous beauty.
I loved this romantic/boho feeling of the collection, which I have to admit reminded me of the styling of Free People’s collection for summer 2011, and I liked the details on the dresses, such as the trims and pom-pom tresses.
Those white dresses were my favorite. They look very carefree and when I saw them coming down the runway I was thinking that they would be perfect for wedding dresses and when reading the press release that was on my chair, I saw that the designer has indeed the same view: ” [...] the white ones can be worn as wedding gowns in an island wedding“
I liked the hair styles a lot…I love those braids and beads and (sometimes) feathers…They are perfect for summer! (Sometimes I wish I had longer hair)
