{beauty} Short Cut

scarlett johansson academy awards 2011

I have to admit that I was never a big fan of long hair. I do admire Blake Lively‘s long wavy hair, but I don’t have the patience to leave my hair to become long because: a) at some point styling (read straightening) gets tiresome and difficult and b) in the summer I have to wear it up all the time because it is hot in here!

My hair is shoulder length and wavy so my options (during winter) is to straighten it or to make it curly. Both styles require time, styling products and heat (read straightening iron or curling iron). During the summer things are easy: I let my hair air-dry (from May to September). There are days that I’m happy with the outcome and days that I’m not!Today is one of the days that straightening isn’t perfect and I’m thinking of choping it off so as to make styling so much easier!!

It’s been almost 4 years since the last time I cut my hair short. Back then I was inspired by Victoria Beckham‘s bob (a.k.a. posh bob) and I cut my hair in a similar style. BUT…this haircut is not appropriate for summer as it needs styling!!! When I let it air-dry I felt completely silly, because it was longer in front and shorter in the back.

Last year I took a cue from Alexa Chung, and got short layers, but still didn’t cut my hair very short. Sooooo this year, I think of cutting my hair like Scarlett Johansson. I liked her Academy Awards hairstyle very much. It seems so easy to style :P (I hope).

Maybe I’ll give my hair some time to think about it and then I’ll visit the hairdresser :)

Oh! and I provide you with visuals with my own hairstyles (short/long):

  1. I really like Scralett Johanssons hair style here. I think the styling is very simple but it doesn’t look too casual. Mrs. Beckham’s bob is too stiff for my taste, even though I love her outfits and her handbag line:D I have always been a fan of long hair, maybe because my hair has always been so long. Your hair looks good when it is shorter though so I would say go for it:)

  2. My hair was the longest it’s been in awhile and I recently cut it shorter (6 inches off) like scar jo’s as well. As for your question about styling it, very easy to do, I usually let it air dry with a bit of bumble & bumble surf spray for day time. Then if I want it a little wavier, since my hair is generally straight, i’ll wrap a few sections around a 1″ curling iron. For a bit of a summer feeling I’ve tried spraying john freida go blonder spray on the ends for a two toned effect as well. Good luck with the cut, hope this helps!
